Winner of the PETA Compassionate Designer award, Purvi’s New Marine Runway collection is a high fashion tribute to PETA’s ‘Fish in tanks, no thanks’ campaign. It is made entirely from hand-spun khadi and cotton kota and often sported by Bollywood names such as Taapsee Pannu, Shilpa Shetty and Raveena Tondon. Based in Auroville, Uma Prajapati’s organic cotton creations are infused with the goodness of Indian herbs and plants such as Tulsi, Neem and Sandalwood. The clothes borrow not just the colours, but also the healing properties of these herbs.
