Pura Vida Wellness

  Eat your way to wellness!

We at Open Slate are always looking to practise and promote self-care in our everyday lives. Our quest acquainted us with Nautami Patel, founder of Puravida. Drawing from Qi Gong, a Chinese system of holistic healing, Pura Vida is a venture that promotes wellness of the mind, body and spirit through raw food-based solutions.

What we admire about Nautami’s venture is her commitment to the cause of holistic wellness. After benefiting from the process herself, she now wants to make it accessible for everyone who may gain from it.

In 2012, Nautami was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and Hashimoto disease, symptoms of which included weight gain, hair thinning and fatigue, among others. Upon getting to know that nutrition was the only cure to this disorder, she turned her life around – enrolling in a raw food chef/coach certification course in Bali, discovering praana based food choices, enrolling in Teacher Certification for QiGong at Chiang Mai Thailand, and looking inward.

The travel, the books, meeting her soul tribe and the meditation retreats, all led her to her calling – to become a 5 Element QiGong instructor, retreat leader, plant-based cook, wellness consultant, and finally, to founding Pura Vida.

The brand’s offerings include raw vegan plant-based food products, dairy-free probiotics, stress management and spiritual nutrition seminars, personal coaching for emotional healing with 5 Element QiGong, and finally, aids for detoxification.

Here’s what we recommend:

  1. Almond Cacao Spread: Excellent for the heart and can be used with smoothies, fruits, salads, crackers and vegetables- just name it!
  2. Oats Amaranth Crackers: Crisp, slightly nutty herb scented crackers, infused with basil, chia seeds and almonds, perfect accompaniment for hummus and various dips.
  3. Raw Plant Protein bar: Perfect for those mid evening cravings and after a workout session, this bar has the goodness of maca root, hemp seeds, activated pumpkin seeds, flax seeds and dates for natural sweetening.
  4. Rawmezan: An authentic, Raw Vegan Cheese, without preservatives and chemicals, containing nutritional yeast, Vitamin B, protein and fiber. This tastes like a rich sharp cheddar cheese, which can be sprinkled over salads, noodles, crackers, or pizza.
  5. Water Kefir: Kefir is probiotic functional food- excellent for the gut, contains good bacteria that boosts immunity, helps with weight loss, improves digestion, slows the aging process by supporting detoxification, and alleviates stress.
