Let’s Get Groovy!
Arguably the favourite time of the year for all of A’bad is almost here! From living a tradition to dancing all night and grabbing a mid-night snack with the gang, Navratri means so much to us. We caught up with a few of the city’s popular Garba enthusiasts to gauge the excitement before the big 9!
Bhumi Rajgor
A true blue Ahmedavadi, Bhumi dreams of Garba all year long. A make-up artiste and influencer, she dresses up in classic Leheriya, Bandhani, mirror work etc. to attend traditional Garba gatherings that play the good ‘ol tunes! A must-have for her Navratri attire are the tinkling bangles that sway with each move. Bhumi loves to head to the club for a little extended party after the garba to dodge the crowds at restaurants.
Shenil Patel Dalal
A fashion influencer, model and stylist, Shenil’s fashion game is always on point and she knows just the spots to visit to pick up the perfect Garba attire. She has a weakness for silver and Afghan jewellery and is loving the Ombre crushed cotton look this season. Grabbing food with friends after a Garba night-out is a ritual that she looks forward to on all nine days!
Priyanka Brijen
Zumba instructor Priyanka is a ball of energy throughout the nine days of Navaratri. A few staples such as the nath (nose ring), Ombre lehenga and kadas in place and Priyanka is ready to twirl! She loves customizing her own chaniya choli and like a true instructor has one piece of advice for her fellow dance enthusiasts – stay hydrated!
Rupa Shah
A fashion inspiration for many, Rupa misses the traditional heavy work Ghargras that ruled the roost once. But she has a few Indo-Western hacks to bring out the charm nevertheless! Rupa has a few favourite designers and spots to head to after the Garba and swears by them year after year.
