…and How They Rule Our Feed!
Call it a career, a hobby, a lifestyle – but documenting your life and interest on social media to inspire and influence a community is no mean task. We bring you some of A’bad’s very own Instagram celebrities that make our timelines such a delight to scroll through each day!
Radhika Bhuptani is the Head Ninja at The Open Slate, forever seeking new and fun ways to engage consumers and brands. “A’bad is one of the most enterprising cities. But when I returned here after a short stint in Mumbai, I noticed that there was a communication gap in the branding and marketing world. Agencies were following a set template without customizing solutions for anyone. Digital platform hadn’t been tapped at all! That inspired me to start my own platform for brand consulting, event curation and planning.
I have a simple mantra for digital content – be genuine. If you are an influencer, you have an added responsibility to be mindful of what you post and make it more about the experience or event than you. My posts always focus on the destination or brand that I am promoting – it helps that I only work with brands that resonate with my ethos and interests. The same goes for TOS – one will never see us in the forefront, but as a force managing it all from behind the scenes. Digital is a fairly new platform in A’bad but I believe we are receptive to change and it will evolve – slowly but surely.”
“Saree has has always been my preferred garment for occasion wear. I feel it is the most elegant, timeless, stylish, versatile and sexy Indian garment. Instagram gives me a reason to wear it more often and more consciously. Mine is a totally organic page. I just get quick pictures clicked by whoever is around whenever I wear the saree and upload them at relevant times or just on a whim! For me, it’s like uploading a slice of my life and chronicling of my own saree collection.
I receive a lot of messages from people across the globe – particularly young girls saying that they are inspired to wear the saree more often or that their lost interest in sarees has been revived after seeing the posts. That makes me very happy. Most people don’t believe I am 53 and mother to two grown up boys aged 25 and 20 and I feel so humbled!”
“Fitness has always been my passion. From being a National level speed skating player to a fitness professional, it has always been about fitness for me. Relieving people’s pain and working towards giving them better health, wellness and happiness is gratifying beyond imagination. People in Ahmedabad like genuine content and appreciate it too.
Knowledge sharing is taken in the right spirit and the more you share, the more trust it wins you. We share content and data in the true spirit of sharing. If someone copies and benefits from that, we have been good to someone at least.”
“Pure Passion for cooking and exploring food keeps me going. My motivation to cook was my circle of people who as foodies loved my recipes and work. That’s when I decided to share my experiences with food with people whose hearts beat for food – thus, Foodbeat! I don’t worry about ‘building’ a personality for my page, I just keep sharing who I really am and my experiences with food. I share my failed recipes and best-created recipes on social media because it what didn’t work, can be a lesson to someone out there who is experimenting with food.”
“What intrigues me about photography is bringing a concept to life – creating an image from scratch and presenting your vision through that final creation. It is a great platform for any brand/creator to mark their presence and reach out to a vast audience. Creative roadblocks are a part and parcel of content creation. During such times, I find it best to take a break or create something entirely different from my current project to distract myself. Passing on what I have learnt in my journey is a great way to give back to my audience.
Apart from the actual work we create, a lot of what goes on behind the scenes is also something I love to share! Ahmedabad has a very welcoming audience for new ideas – I think it is a great place for collaborations and getting together with lots of unique brands and people who can inspire one another.”
